Welcome to the History of the Parker Companies

HISTORY OF THE PARKER COMPANIES

In the 70's the environmental boom hit. Parker found itself in extremely heavy demand. We were one of the only companies able to handle the large and complex jobs being built. An example was, when we bid on a project in Delaware. We originally lost the bid do to pricing. The job went at $350,000.00. The next month they called in desperation. The company who got the job could not handle the complex task, went bankrupt and defaulted. The client had to move in to their new building and were refused a Certificate of Occupancy until the huge atrium was planted. Originally scheduled for a month to complete, Parker's finished it in one week by sending over 75 people down. We worked 24 hours per day, bringing in food and sleeping on tables, when we were too tired to work. The job was finished ahead of schedule.

Parker has been  presented with unbeatable obstacles. We built the largest shade house in the world to acclimatize the first major successful planting of Washingtonia palms indoors. We built a 25 foot horse out of 40,000 flowers. Parker built a 25' Statue of Liberty out of flowers, we have cared for the personal homes of many billionaires.

The Atlantic City Hotel Association awarded Parker the Top Vendor Award out of over 1.5 billion dollars in purchases! Twice, the White House awarded Parker their top honor.

Parker grew to be the leader of the industry. It now stands, as the largest privately owned interior Landscape Company in the nation and possibly the world.  The main facility is 10 times the size of 99% of its competition. In fact many of Parker's competition buys from us.

Parker's pioneered many industry firsts. A few of these include:

  • Many new varieties of plants were introduced.
  • First successful Large commercial use of self watering systems.
  • First customized boxes to hold plants without damaging them.
  • First to use large preserved plants commercially indoors
  • First to build huge artificial trees for indoors out of natural bark and silk leaves.
  • First to franchise out the interior Plantscape business.
